Field Report from our AWOL Calf

Tuesday, 19 August 2008 05:19 by Jeff Kleinpeter

One of our calves has been wondering if the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Don't worry, she's in good hands, and being well fed and taken care of.

The main reason she wanted to "get out" was to travel our state and find more Louisiana Ingredients that we can incorporate into our delicious Ice Cream. So far, she started out in White Castle, where she found Louisiana Cane Sugar at Cora Texas Sugar Cane Mill. Then, she went to Ponchatoula, where she found Ponchatoula Strawberries. Then, she went to New Roads, where she found the Bergeron Family and brought back their Pecans to us. Then, she went to New Orleans, and yes, she walked with Fats Domino. In New Orleans, down along the river by the French Quarter, she found Aunt Sally's Praline Factory. She talked to them about a special praline, made with her momma's milk and butter, that would be rBGH-free. They made them for us, and now we have that flavor on the market.

Then, she went back to Ponchatoula and talked to the Elmer's Chocolate folks, and on the way home, she talked to the Community Coffee folks as well.

Do you have a favorite flavor that you want us to make? Let us know, and we will send our little gal to check out your idea. We just might make a flavor out of it too, so please, let your ideas flow just like our little gal's momma does.

I love your ice cream. Can you combine your Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry into one package to sell a Neapolitan flavor? It's so hard for me to decide on one flavor; Neapolitan would be perfect!

Hi Jeff,

I hosted an ice-cream social at work with all the available flavors. I received at least 50 emails from co-workers who enjoyed everything about the ice-cream. I can't wait for the new flavors to hit the store shelves so we can do it again!

P.S. I have a co-worker waiting for chocolate/vanilla swirl Smile

I love all the Louisiana-inspired flavors you've come up with! I think a Sweet Tea ice cream made with Community Coffee tea and Louisiana sugar cane would be delicious!

Some ice cream suggestions: Blueberry & Cream, made with Louisiana blueberries, Peach made with Ruston Peaches, Meyer Lemon Ice Cream (OK, I'm thinking fruit here!), a take on Doberge Cake! Michelle D.

How about a Hubig Pie flavor. Coconut would be great! Baum's Cheesecake flavor!
